I initiated the direct rollover with my old 401k provider about three weeks ago, got all the paperwork signed and sent over to the Gold IRA company. Both sides assured me it would be a smooth process, "typical turnaround is 2-4 weeks". Well, we're definitely nearing the end of that 4-week window now, and it feels like molasses in winter. I keep checking my accounts daily, expecting to see the funds finally hit, or at least a firm update from someone beyond the standard "it's processing" email.

For those of you who’ve gone through this, particularly a direct rollover, what was your actual timeline like? Did you hit any snags? Did you have to hound your old 401k administrator? I'm just trying to get a realistic picture because right now, I'm feeling a bit blind.
