Just stumbled across this sub and thought I’d share a bit about my silver stacking journey. I’m an old-school guy, retired CEO down in Palm Beach, been in the precious metals game for decades. For me, it all started back in the early 2000s, around 2003 I think, when I first started dabbling in silver. I initially bought about 1,000 ounces, mostly American Silver Eagles and some Canadian Maples, just as a hedge against what I saw as an inevitable decline in fiat currencies. My initial allocation was pretty small compared to my overall portfolio, maybe low six figures, but it was just the start.
Over the years, especially post-2008 and then again during all the money printing of the last few years, I’ve steadily accumulated. My strategy's always been pretty simple: buy on dips, hold for the long term, and diversify my physical holdings. I'm not a day trader, never have been. I use a secure vault for most of it, but always keep a decent amount accessible at home – you just never know, right? I've since scaled up quite a bit. I’m well past 10,000 ounces of physical silver now, split between various types of coins and some 100oz bars. It’s a significant chunk of my metals allocation, which itself is a good portion of my 8-figure net worth. The peace of mind alone is worth it.
What really drives me to keep accumulating is the conviction that silver is still massively undervalued compared to gold, and historically. Plus, the industrial demand is only going to grow, and it’s a finite resource. For me, it's not about making a quick buck, it's about wealth preservation and passing something tangible down to my grandkids. My kids aren’t as into it, unfortunately, but that’s another story. Do any of you seasoned stackers out there feel the same way about silver's future given the current economic climate? Or do you see gold as the primary play for capital preservation?
