Money Metals Exchange is solid for sure, especially for smaller direct purchases. I've bought some silver eagles from them over the years, never had an issue. For the IRA stuff though, I ended up going with Augusta Precious Metals – the white glove service for the higher dollar amounts just felt right.

Totally agree with the sentiment here. I used Money Metals for a chunk of my physical silver back in 2018-2019, primarily for smaller denominations I wanted to hold outside my IRA. Their pricing was competitive, and the product arrived exactly as advertised. I had a similarly smooth experience with their customer service when I had a question about delivery times once. Good to see others had the same.

Been seeing a lot of folks here glowing about Money Metals, and while I get the appeal of low premiums, I've got to ask: are we *really* prioritizing a few percentage points on the initial buy over the long-term security and *proven* liquidity of a larger, more established dealer? I mean, what happens when you need to sell a good chunk of that gold quickly when the market goes sideways, are they going to be as responsive and competitive as the bigger players? Just something to chew on.

I had a pretty good run with Money Metals Exchange for my initial gold purchase back in 2018 when I first rolled over an old 401k. Their prices were competitive then, and the shipping to Boise was quick and discreet. If you're near retirement like I am, you absolutely have to check out the RMD Calculator – it's super helpful for planning out those distributions, especially with precious metals.

Totally agree with this assessment! I actually rolled over about $300k from an old 401k into a Gold IRA with Money Metals a few years back, and the whole process was smoother than I expected. Their pricing for American Gold Eagles was really competitive compared to some of the other places I checked out from Birmingham, especially on larger purchases.

Okay, I see a lot of praise for Money Metals Exchange here, and while I haven't had a *bad* experience with them, I do think it's worth considering alternatives, especially for larger accounts. When I rolled over my 401k a few years back, I ended up going with Augusta Precious Metals out of Wyoming. Their fee structure was transparent, no hidden markups, and the buyback guarantee was a strong selling point for someone like me looking at a 500k-plus portfolio. I'm in Detroit and it's always good to have that peace of mind, knowing if I need to liquidate a portion, the process is clear and fair. Money Metals might be fine for smaller purchases, but for the heavy hitters, I'd say shop around aggressively.

Man, glad someone brought up Money Metals. I actually almost went with them back in '21 when I was first setting up my Gold IRA. Their advertised fees seemed really competitive for the smaller guys, and I was only looking at rolling over about $120k from an old 401k. Got everything set up, and two days before funding, I noticed a "misc. service fee" buried deep in the fine print that would have tacked on another $800 annually for my specific chosen coins. Not a huge sum in the grand scheme, but it felt a little bait-and-switchy. Ended up going with Lear Capital after that, even though their initial setup felt a bit more salesy. Just made me question Money Metals' transparency from the get-go.

I've been with Money Metals for a few years now for my gold IRA holdings, after rolling over a portion of my old 401k. Their spreads have always seemed pretty fair, especially compared to some of the local Seattle dealers I checked out initially. The tax advantages of having my precious metals in an IRA were a huge motivator, and their setup process was surprisingly smooth.

Regarding Money Metals Exchange, I’ve used them for some smaller direct purchases of physical over the years. My IRA provider actually uses a different custodian for my larger allocations, but for stacking a few additional ounces outside the IRA, their service has always been solid. They're competitive on pricing for generics, and I've never had an issue with delivery or product quality, which for me is the main point of concern with any online dealer.

Okay, so I did my 401k rollover to a gold IRA about three years ago, and initially I was looking at all the big names, including Money Metals Exchange. Their pricing on some of the popular coins seemed decent at the time, especially compared to what I was seeing from some shady outfits advertising on late-night TV. Ended up going with another provider for my bulk **precious metals** but Money Metals was definitely on my shortlist. For anyone with significant retirement savings, the due diligence is critical.

Saw a lot of folks talking about Money Metals lately. I actually used them for my first gold purchase that eventually rolled into my IRA, probably around 2018 or so. Their prices seemed competitive on smaller orders and shipping was quick. Haven't used them for the IRA directly, but for direct purchases, they've been solid. Just always compare their buyback prices if you're thinking future liquidation, that's where some can get ya.

I've seen a lot of recommendations for Money Metals Exchange on various forums, and while I haven't had a *bad* experience with them personally, my focus has shifted. After getting burned with a few slow delivery times and less-than-stellar buyback offers from some popular online dealers, I've really leaned into using local coin shops and larger, established bullion dealers for my gold and silver rounds. The premiums might be a hair higher sometimes, but the peace of mind knowing who I'm dealing with, and having immediate access to my metals if needed, just feels more secure for my peace of mind here in Salt Lake. For my IRA, I stick with a dedicated custodian that deals directly with vaults, removing the middleman entirely.

Honestly, I've used Money Metals a few times for smaller silver buys – nothing for my IRA, just some stacking. Their prices on fractional stuff are usually competitive, and shipping's always been discreet. For a Gold IRA, though, I'd suggest looking at their approved depositories and making sure the storage fees align with your overall strategy.

@James Wilson Good to hear a positive experience with Money Metals for direct purchases. I'm still feeling out all the different players in this space. My Gold IRA is set up, but I'm just starting on the physical side and wondering about the differences between buying for an IRA vs. direct. Does your custodian offer better pricing for the larger allocations, or is it more about the security/reporting aspect for you? I'm in El Paso and trying to figure out if it's worth it to even consider local dealers vs. online for smaller direct purchases down the line.

I've seen Money Metals pop up a lot in discussions lately, especially when comparing them to other dealers. While their product range and pricing can be attractive for certain items, I've had a couple of hangups. Specifically, their buyback spread on some common bullion items felt a bit wider than what I've seen from other reputable dealers when I was rotating some of my holdings last year. It’s definitely something to factor in if you ever need to liquidate quickly.

I've seen a few folks mention Money Metals here, and honestly, their pricing on smaller silver lots always seemed a bit high for me. What really helped me compare is using a spot price tracker like the one on JM Bullion's site – it's just a clean, easy way to see what you *should* be paying and compare premiums across different dealers. Made sorting through all the options from Charleston a lot less stressful when I was first building up my gold IRA.

Alright, I've seen some mixed reviews on Money Metals Exchange float around, and I gotta say, my experience was pretty solid. I went with them maybe two years ago when I finally decided to roll over part of my old 401k into a Gold IRA. I’m down here in Little Rock, and finding a local place that deals specifically with Gold IRAs was a headache, so online it was. Money Metals’ website was straightforward, none of that flashy nonsense, and their reps were actually helpful, not pushy like I've gotten from some other places trying to sell me rare coins for triple spot. I ended up converting about $70k, mostly into American Gold Eagles and some Canadian Maples, and the whole process, from setting up the account with their custodian recommendation (Equity Trust) to getting the metals securely vaulted, took about three weeks. Fees felt reasonable too, definitely less than what my old financial advisor was charging for doing practically nothing. So yeah, for a first timer, I'd give them a thumbs up.

Saw a few folks here recommending Money Metals Exchange and just wanted to share my experience. Used them once, maybe 8 years back, for some silver Eagles when I was diversifying heavily away from paper. Transaction itself was smooth, no complaints there with delivery or product. However, their buyback spread on anything substantial felt a little tight for my liking when I eventually sold off some of that stack. Always worth comparing quotes across a few dealers, especially on the sell-side.

Been seeing a lot of chatter about Money Metals Exchange here. I actually did a 401k rollover into a gold IRA with them back in '19, right before things got really wild. Their process for precious metals was straightforward enough, and honestly, the tax advantages have been a lifesaver for my retirement savings. My portfolio's done well, glad I diversified beyond just stocks.

@Carol Carter Yeah, Money Metals has been a bit of a mixed bag for me too. I actually ended up going with them for a smaller silver purchase back in '21, mainly because their pricing on those specific ounces was untouchable at the time. Shipping was a little slower than I liked, but the product was fine. After a previous nightmare trying to set up my Gold IRA with some fly-by-night outfit that charged me insane fees just for *talking* to them, I was pretty wary of any new "gold" conversation. Honestly, I didn't expect much from another gold forum, but the fee breakdowns and direct comparison tools I found on GIRAB when I was scoping out different custodians for my actual Gold IRA were surprisingly legit. It helped me avoid another headache and actually get my funds moved without feeling totally fleeced.

@Linda Taylor - That's good to hear about Money Metals. I'm also in Texas, Houston specifically, and have been looking at diversifying some of my retirement accounts with a gold IRA. I've heard mixed things about MME, mostly positive, but I'm curious about something specific related to storage. You mention fair spreads, which is great, but have you ever looked into their storage options outside of their general vaulting services? Specifically, for folks who might want a bit more control or even segregated storage, does MME offer anything beyond their standard commingled storage, or would you typically have to arrange that with a separate depository after purchase? The Learning Center here at GIRAB has some great guides on different storage types, but I'm trying to figure out if Money Metals simplifies that whole process.

I've had mixed feelings about Money Metals. They were one of the first places I looked at back in 2018 when I was shifting a good chunk into physical, but their premium on 1oz Eagles felt a bit steep compared to what Augusta or even SD Bullion was offering at the time for a 7-figure purchase. For smaller buys, they might be fine, but for significant allocations, I'd definitely shop around more aggressively than just taking their spot + premium at face value.
