Minimum for Gold IRA?

I've been kicking around the idea of finally moving some more capital into a Gold IRA, specifically thinking about some rounds. I've got a decent chunk already, maybe 15% of my 750k portfolio is in physical gold and silver, but it's not in a retirement account. I'm 52, a lawyer here in Philly, and really focused on wealth preservation right now. The market volatility lately is making me a bit antsy, even with my diversified portfolio. I've been using that Gold vs Stocks Comparison tool and seeing how gold has held up over the last 10 years, especially compared to some of my tech holdings, is pretty compelling. It's not about making a quick buck for me, it's about not losing my shirt when things go south, especially with retirement approaching.
My traditional IRA is healthy, but it's almost entirely paper assets. I'm wondering what kind of minimum investment I'd be looking at to open a new Gold IRA, specifically interested in buying rounds. I'm not looking to roll over my entire existing IRA, just earmark some new funds, maybe 50k-100k to start, and then contribute annually. Are there typical minimums that providers require for an initial funding? I've seen some numbers thrown around online, anywhere from 10k to 50k, and it's a bit confusing.
Also, any recommendations for custodians that are good with smaller (relatively speaking) direct gold purchases for IRAs? I'm not planning on doing massive transactions every month, just a few solid purchases to build up that physical asset base within the retirement account. Really appreciate any insights from those who've gone through this process. It feels like a big step beyond just buying a few ounces from my local dealer.
