I've been doing a lot of research lately into Gold IRAs, mainly since my husband passed away last year. He was always so meticulous with our investments, and now that I'm managing things, I want to make sure I'm doing right by his legacy. We have a portfolio of about $75,000 right now, mostly in traditional stocks and bonds, and I'm really keen on diversifying into something more tangible.
The thing that keeps tripping me up is the minimum investment requirements I'm seeing for these Gold IRAs. Some companies are quoting figures like $25,000 or even $50,000 just to get started. Is that really the norm? It feels a little steep, especially for someone like me in Raleigh who's trying to be smart about protecting our assets, not dumping everything into one basket right off the bat.
My goal isn't to put all $75k into gold, but maybe a good chunk to properly hedge against inflation and market volatility. I was thinking more along the lines of $20,000 to $30,000 to start. Are there reputable companies out there that accommodate lower entry points, or am I just looking in the wrong places? Any advice from others who've navigated this would be so appreciated. It's a lot to learn on my own.
