Looking for Gold IRA Recs for My "Smaller" Portfolio
- •I'm a horse farm owner out here in Louisville, and while things are comfortable, I’m not exactly a high-roller with millions to throw around.
- •My retirement portfolio, all told, probably sits in the $150k-$200k range right now.

I've been kicking around the idea of diversifying my portfolio a bit more with a Gold IRA, and honestly, the sheer number of companies out there is making my head spin. I'm a horse farm owner out here in Louisville, and while things are comfortable, I’m not exactly a high-roller with millions to throw around. My retirement portfolio, all told, probably sits in the $150k-$200k range right now.
Most of the articles I read seem geared towards folks with half a million or more, and I'm wondering if there are specific companies that are better suited for someone like me. I'm looking for clear, upfront fees, good customer service (I don’t want to feel like I’m bothering them with questions), and a straightforward process. I’m pretty practical about wealth building, so I just want something solid and reliable, not some flashy, complicated setup.
My main goal is long-term stability and a hedge against inflation. The last few years have shown me that you can't just trust everything to the stock market, even if it's been pretty good to me overall. I'm trying to figure out the right allocation, too. I've been playing around with tools like the "Silver vs Stocks" comparison recently (found it over at goldirablueprint.com/silvervsstocks) and it really highlights how precious metals can hold their own, even outperform, over longer periods.
So, for those of you who started with a similar portfolio size, who did you go with? Any companies that were particularly helpful or, conversely, any to absolutely avoid? What kind of minimums did you encounter? Any advice on the process itself would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for the insights!
