Man, what a ride the last few years have been! Just finally hit my personal goal of 10,000 ounces of physical silver bars in my Gold IRA. It feels pretty damn good, not gonna lie. Started this whole thing back in 2019 with about $50k from a good harvest year, figuring it was better off in something real than sitting in the bank losing value. My local bank guy here in Fresno looked at me like I had two heads when I told him I wanted to put it all into precious metals.
I usually pick up 100oz bars, sometimes a few 10oz if I catch a good deal. Mostly from reputable online dealers, but I’ve made a couple of decent local buys too. My Gold IRA holdings are pushing close to $100k now with what I've added and the price movement. Watching the market fluctuate is definitely a rollercoaster, but I sleep better knowing I've got tangible assets, especially with all the talk about inflation and economic uncertainty. Being in agriculture, you learn pretty quickly that real things hold real value, unlike some digital funny money.
It got me thinking, now that I’ve hit my initial silver target, what are other long-term stackers doing? Are you diversifying into gold more heavily? Keeping a 90/10 or 80/20 silver to gold ratio? I've been eyeing some 1oz gold coins, but I still feel like silver has more room to run in the long term. I’ve also been using that Tax Calculator tool on Gold IRA Blueprint to constantly check out the implications of a future withdrawal – helps me plan way ahead, especially with these bigger numbers.
What are your exit strategies looking like for your silver stack? Are you holding until a specific price point, or more of a time-based horizon? I'm curious what everyone else's long-term play is. For now, I'm just enjoying the peace of mind.
