Is platinum the next big thing for IRA rollovers? Anyone buying?
- •My own portfolio is sitting comfortably around the high end of $150k, almost all of it in physical gold and silver allocated through a Gold IRA.

Been following the gold and silver markets pretty closely from Tulsa for a while now, thanks to osmosis from working with execs at a major oil company. My own portfolio is sitting comfortably around the high end of $150k, almost all of it in physical gold and silver allocated through a Gold IRA. I rolled over my old 401k a few years back when I started seeing the writing on the wall with inflation, and it's been one of the best financial decisions I've ever made. The peace of mind is worth more than anything.
Lately, though, I've been kicking around the idea of diversifying a bit within the precious metals space, specifically looking at platinum. I've heard some chatter about it being historically undervalued compared to gold, and with the push towards green tech and hydrogen fuel cells, it seems like there could be some serious industrial demand ramping up. Is anyone else looking at this for their IRA?
My concern is that it's less established than gold and silver for IRA rollovers, and I don't want to get into anything too complex or hard to liquidate if I ever need to. Are custodians as familiar with platinum as they are with gold? And what are the premiums like compared to gold? I'm talking about physical platinum here, not futures or ETFs. My goal is long-term wealth preservation, not day trading.
Have any of you guys here taken the plunge with platinum in your Gold IRA? What's your experience been like, and what are your thoughts on its potential given the current economic climate? Thinking about allocating maybe 10-15% of my next transfer if the numbers make sense.
