Inherited IRA to Gold - What are my options?

My uncle passed away late last year, and I've just about finished getting everything settled with his estate. One thing that landed in my lap is an inherited IRA, sitting at around $180k. I'm 52, work in casino management here in Vegas, so I know a thing or two about risk, but this whole inherited IRA thing is new territory for me. I've been doing some research into converting it to a Gold IRA, or at least a portion of it, and want to make sure I'm thinking about this right.
My own portfolio is pretty balanced, leaning a bit conservative these days after seeing some of the market volatility over the past few years. My uncle was always a big proponent of tangible assets, so in a way, this feels like carrying on his legacy a bit. The thought of having some of that money in physical gold, especially with all the talk about inflation and currency debasement, is pretty appealing. I'm not looking to go 100% into gold, but maybe a solid 25-30% of this inherited IRA could be a smart move.
I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this without getting hit with a bunch of penalties or taxes I don't need. Is it a direct rollover? Do I take a distribution and then fund a new Gold IRA with that? My main goal is to protect a chunk of this inheritance from market swings and just have that peace of mind. For those of you who have done something similar with an inherited IRA, what was your experience like? Any pitfalls I should be aware of, especially concerning the RMDs that'll eventually kick in?
Also, regarding storage, for a $50k-$60k allocation into physical gold, what's typical? I'm imagining a secure, allocated storage, not just some commingled vault. Are there specific companies or custodians known for being excellent with inherited IRA rollovers into precious metals that you'd recommend looking into? Really appreciate any guidance or shared experiences you all might have.
