Been thinking a lot lately about silver, especially with all the talk about industrial demand spiking. I've got a decent chunk of my retirement in a Gold IRA, roughly $180k now, with about 20% of that in silver. Started diversifying a few years back when inflation first started feeling like it was actually here to stay, not just a "transitory" blip like they kept telling us.
Living here in El Paso, on the border, you see firsthand how interconnected global manufacturing is. Mexico's economy thrives on that industrial activity, and a lot of what they're making uses silver. Solar panels, EV batteries, electronics – it's all ramping up. It makes me wonder if traditional market analysis is fully pricing in this massive, growing demand. Like, we all know gold is the classic safe haven, but silver has that dual role, right? Investment and industrial. Are we underestimating how much that industrial side is going to push prices in the next 5-10 years? I'm bullish on it, personally, especially with all the new infrastructure bills globally.
My broker actually showed me this "Silver vs Stocks" tool the other day, and looking at the 10-year trend, it really highlights silver's volatility but also its potential. It's a neat visual for comparing how silver’s performed against the broader market. It definitely leans into my feeling that silver's got some serious legs. What are y'all's thoughts? Are you factoring industrial demand heavily into your silver allocations, or do you see other factors that will ultimately dominate its price action?
I’m trying to decide if I should allocate more of my next IRA contribution towards silver or stick with more gold for stability. My gut says silver might be due for a bigger breakout with this industrial push, but it's always a gamble. Anyone got any good resources or studies on projected industrial silver consumption in the coming decade?
