Gold's ATHs got me thinking - what's next for my IRA?
- •Okay, so gold's just been on an absolute tear, hitting all-time highs and then some.
- •I started building that position slowly over the last 10 years, especially after seeing the last few market downturns rattle things.
- •As an old hat from the military, that sense of security and tangible assets just resonates deeply.
Okay, so gold's just been on an absolute tear, hitting all-time highs and then some. For someone like me who's got a decent chunk of their retirement in a Gold IRA – thinking around the mid-$300k range – it definitely makes you pause and take stock. I started building that position slowly over the last 10 years, especially after seeing the last few market downturns rattle things. As an old hat from the military, that sense of security and tangible assets just resonates deeply.
My original thought process was always about diversification and a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. Living here in San Diego, the cost of living alone is enough to make you constantly think about protecting your nest egg. Seeing gold perform like this is validating in a way, but it also sparks a new set of questions. Are we riding this wave much higher, or is a correction inevitable? I'm not looking to time the market, because who realistically can, but I also don't want to be caught holding the bag if things cool off dramatically.
I'm curious what others in a similar boat are thinking. Are you holding tight, maybe looking to rebalance a bit? I've been considering if it's wise to take a little profit off the top and reinvest it elsewhere, or if this is just the beginning of gold's next big run. Part of me wants to just stay the course, what got me here, right? But the other part, the 'protect the capital' part from my military days, is nagging me to be smart about this.
Any other Gold IRA investors out there, especially those who've been around the block a few times, what's your current sentiment? Are you adjusting your strategy based on these new highs? Would love to hear different perspectives on managing this kind of growth within a retirement account.
