Hey everyone,
I've been a pretty consistent gold investor through my Gold IRA for a while now, probably 5-6 years. My portfolio is sitting comfortably around the $200k mark right now, and I've been happy with the stability and long-term appreciation I've seen. I'm a healthcare administrator here in Tampa, so stability is a big deal for me – gotta sleep at night, right?
Lately, though, I've been thinking about diversifying a bit more within my precious metals. My current allocation is heavily gold-weighted, probably 85-90% gold, with just a small sliver (pun intended!) of silver. I keep seeing posts about silver's industrial demand and its potential for higher percentage gains during certain economic cycles. It's making me wonder if I'm missing out by not having more exposure to it.
For those of you with more experience in a heavier silver allocation within an IRA, what are your thoughts? Did you gradually increase your silver over time? Did you rebalance from gold, or did you just add new contributions to silver? I'm not looking to dump my gold by any means, but maybe bring my silver up to, say, 20-30% of my precious metals holdings. Is that a reasonable target, or should I be more conservative? Any insights on historical performance comparisons you've noticed between gold and silver in your own portfolios would be awesome.
