Well, what a ride, huh? Gold just keeps climbing, and seeing it break new all-time highs every other week has me feeling pretty good about sticking with it all these years. I retired from Ford a few years back, and honestly, the stability gold brings to my portfolio – which is sitting somewhere between $500k and $1M these days – has been a godsend. I've been holding physical gold and some Gold IRA stuff for over 20 years now, through market crashes, booms, you name it. There were definitely times the wife wondered why I was so bullish on "just a shiny rock," but who's laughing now?
This surge has me seriously considering my longer-term strategy, particularly for the next 5-10 years. Part of me wants to trim some profits, maybe rebalance a bit more into some dividend stocks, but then I look at the global economic picture and it feels like gold is still the ultimate insurance policy. Inflation worries me, especially with what I see at the grocery store every week here in Detroit, and the geopolitical instability just reinforces my conviction. Are any of you looking at taking some chips off the table, or are you doubling down on the belief that this is just the beginning?
On another note, I’ve been thinking more about my kids’ financial future. They’re both grown now and starting to build their own nest eggs. I’m torn between advising them to start their own Gold IRAs or maybe gifting them some physical bullion. I want to pass on some of the financial wisdom I've gained, but the market's a different beast than when I started. What are your thoughts on introducing the next generation to gold investing right now, at these all-time highs? Is it better to get in early, or wait for a potential dip?
