Okay, so I've been wrestling with my Gold IRA allocation and wanted to tap into the collective wisdom here. I'm sitting on a portfolio hovering around $200k right now, mostly gold, as I'm pretty bullish on its long-term stability given all the economic headwinds. Planning on an aggressive early retirement β aiming for around 55, so thatβs roughly 10 years out. I'm a marketing executive here in Minneapolis, and while the job's good, I'm definitely feeling the grind and want out sooner rather than later.
My current split is probably 85/15 gold to silver, maybe even 90/10. I initially leaned heavily into gold for the stability and traditional "safe haven" aspect. But lately, Iβve been reading a lot about silverβs industrial demand and its potential for more aggressive growth in the coming years. Part of me is thinking about rebalancing closer to a 75/25 or even 70/30 split. The idea of getting a bigger bang for my buck with silver is tempting, especially since I still have a decent runway before retirement.
I know gold is the classic, but silver just feels like it has more upside potential right now, especially with all the green energy initiatives and demand from tech. Am I being too conservative sticking so heavily with gold? Or is chasing potential higher gains with silver just introducing unnecessary risk when stability should be my primary focus for retirement planning?
What are your thoughts on a good gold/silver allocation, especially for someone with similar portfolio size and a 10-year outlook? Has anyone here significantly shifted their silver allocation and seen great results (or regrets)?
