So, I've been watching the gold price movements lately, and I gotta say, it's been a bit of a rollercoaster. I cashed out a good chunk of my tech company a few years back – we're talking a solid 8-figure exit – and put a significant portion, just under a million, into precious metals, mostly gold through a Gold IRA. Based here in Dublin, OH, always felt it was the smart play given the market volatility I saw coming. Even built a dedicated vault for some of my physical holdings.
My strategy has always been long-term, wealth preservation really, not looking to day-trade this stuff. But seeing these swings, even if they're relatively small in the grand scheme for me, still makes you think. One day it's up, next it's down a bit. I understand it's not a growth stock, and I didn't invest in gold for explosive returns, but I'm curious what everyone else's gut feeling is these days. Are you expecting a significant surge soon, or more of this slow, steady, sometimes slightly dipping action?
I remember feeling pretty smug during the initial COVID uncertainty when gold hit those highs. Felt like all my research and gut instincts paid off. Now, it feels... calmer, almost too calm. I'm not complaining, obviously, my portfolio is still robust. But I'm always looking to refine my understanding. Any other long-term holders in here feeling the same? What's your outlook for the next 12-24 months for gold?
