Gold just smashed ATH: My thoughts as a long-term holder (and a question for you all)

Well, folks, gold pulling past that $2,400 mark is something else, isn't it? As someone who’s had a decent chunk of my retirement savings – probably about 15-20% of my roughly $750k portfolio – tied up in physical gold through an IRA for the better part of a decade now, this feels… vindicating. I started seriously looking into this around 2014-2015, driven mainly by concerns about inflation and geopolitical instability. Being a lawyer here in Philly, my primary goal has always been wealth preservation, not necessarily chasing moonshots. Seeing gold finally break these records after years of steady, if sometimes slow, upward movement, frankly, feels good. It’s comforting to know that decision to diversify is paying off exactly how I envisioned it would – as a hedge.
My strategy has always been fairly straightforward: allocate a portion, hold it, and forget about trying to time the market. The bulk of my gold is in various types of rounds and some bars, all securely stored with the IRA custodian. I’m not really a coin collector so the numismatic value isn't a factor for me; it’s purely about the underlying metal. I’ve often wondered if I should have allocated more over the years, especially during some of the dips, but hindsight is 20/20. The current economic climate, with inflation still stubbornly high and global tensions escalating, only reinforces my conviction in gold's role as a safe haven asset.
So, the big question for all of you out there: now that gold has broken all-time highs, what's your next move? Are you holding tight like me? Are you considering taking some profits, or perhaps even increasing your allocation further? I've been doing some reading on potential next steps – things like rebalancing, or just reaffirming my long-term hold strategy. I found myself digging through the Learning Center at https://learn.goldirablueprint.com/?forum the other day, just to refresh my memory on some macroeconomic analysis and what trends historically follow major price breaks. Always good to stay informed, even for us long-haulers.
I’m particularly curious to hear from anyone who might be newer to gold or those who perhaps entered the market at a higher price point in the past. How are you feeling about your investment right now? Any shift in strategy, or are you doubling down on the long game? Always appreciate hearing different perspectives on these big market movements.
