Wow, what a ride this has been! I've been watching the gold ticker like a hawk these past few weeks, and seeing us blow past those previous highs has me feeling pretty darn stoked. I'm a nurse here in Seattle, and I only started my Gold IRA about two and a half years ago, dumping in about $60k of my savings. It felt like a big leap of faith at the time, honestly, after years of just sticking with traditional stocks and bonds.
My main goal was always retirement security, you know? Just seeing what the world's been doing lately, the inflation, the geopolitical stuff... I just wanted something that felt more solid. And now, seeing these gains, it really validates that decision. I'm not out here trying to get rich quick, but seeing that portfolio value tick up definitely takes some of the pressure off. I'm thinking about slowly adding a bit more this year, maybe another $10k or so if things keep looking positive and I have some extra cash.
I know some people think gold is just a "barbaric relic," but honestly, for someone like me who just wants peace of mind heading into retirement, it's doing exactly what I hoped it would. What are other people doing now that we're at all-time highs? Are you holding tight, or are you rebalancing a bit? I'm curious what strategies others are thinking about.
On a related note, has anyone else used the Retirement Planner? I stumbled upon it recently and it's actually been super helpful for visualizing my overall retirement picture, including my gold holdings. It's really helped me get a clearer picture of where I need to be. Highly recommend checking it out if you're trying to figure out your own retirement goals!
