Gold IRA Storage Fees: What's Everyone Else Paying?

Hey everyone, Michael Anderson here from Chicago. Been running my construction company for years, and like a lot of you, I'm a big believer in tangible assets – stuff you can actually hold. That's why I put a significant chunk of my retirement savings into a Gold IRA a few years back. With all the talk about inflation and market volatility, it’s felt like a pretty solid move, especially when I see the value of my physical gold keeping pace.
I went with a well-known custodian for my Gold IRA, and their service has generally been good. However, I’ve been reviewing my statements lately, and the storage fees are starting to make me wonder if I'm getting the best deal. I'm currently paying around 0.15% of the total asset value annually for segregated storage, which for my holdings (let's just say a comfortable six-figure amount) adds up to a noticeable chunk of change every year. Plus, there are separate insurance fees on top of that. I opted for segregated because the idea of having my specific bars and coins identified just gives me an extra layer of peace of mind, but that comes with a premium, of course.
My question for all of you who also hold Gold IRAs: What are you typically paying in storage fees? Are you doing segregated or commingled storage, and do you feel the difference in cost is justified? I've seen some companies advertise lower percentages, but then there are often minimum fees or other hidden charges that make it hard to compare apples to apples. Are there any specific custodians you'd recommend looking into that offer competitive rates without compromising security? I'm always looking for ways to optimize my investments, so any insights or personal experiences you can share would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks in advance for your input!
