With all the talk about a potential recession – feels like it's been "imminent" for two years now, right? – I’m finding myself feeling pretty comfortable with the chunk of my portfolio I've got in precious metals. I run a logistics company here in Memphis, and let me tell you, I see the cracks forming in ways the general public probably doesn't. Supply chain issues are still a headache, and consumer spending feels… squishy. I'm actively working on a succession plan for my business, so protecting my nest egg is more top-of-mind than ever.
Right now, approximately 15% of my ~$750k portfolio is in a Gold IRA, mostly physical gold and a bit of silver. I made that allocation about three years ago, and frankly, I'm glad I did. It feels like a solid hedge against inflation and any major market downturn. Saw a pretty decent bump in value recently which was a nice bonus, but that’s not really why I got into it. It’s more about the stability aspect. Anyone else feel like their precious metals holdings are a good anchor in these uncertain times?
I've been using a lot of the resources out there to stay informed, especially the Learning Center at Gold IRA Blueprint. It’s been super helpful for understanding the ins and outs of market trends and even just clarifying some of the more technical aspects of IRA rules. Seriously, if you're looking for good educational resources, that site is a game-changer.
What are your thoughts on precious metals as a recession hedge right now? Are you increasing your allocation, holding steady, or even trimming it a bit? Curious to hear how others are feeling and any resources you've found particularly valuable lately.
