Gold IRA newbie here - what did you mess up (so I don't)?

Just rolled over about $180k from my old 401k into a Gold IRA, and honestly, a mix of excitement and mild panic is setting in. As a contractor in Jacksonville, security is practically ingrained, so moving some of my retirement into something tangible feels right. My financial advisor talked me through the whole thing, and I've done my own research, but there's always that fear of the unknown with something this significant. I went with Goldco, and so far, the experience has been pretty smooth, but I'm only a few weeks in.
My biggest concern right now is all the potential "gotchas" I might have missed. I've read about people getting hit with crazy fees they didn't anticipate or ending up with non-IRA approved metals. I tried to be super diligent about checking all the fine print, and Goldco's transparency has been a relief compared to some of the horror stories I've heard. But seriously, what are the common rookie mistakes that people actually make when getting into this? I'm not looking for financial advice, just real-world experiences.
For example, did any of you underestimate storage fees or get surprised by shipping costs when you started? Or did you wish you'd diversified a bit more within your metals holdings from the get-go? I put a good chunk into American Gold Eagles, but I'm wondering if I should have spread it out more with some different types of eligible coins/bars after the initial setup. I'm trying to think long-term, like 15-20 years for retirement, so I want to avoid any self-inflicted wounds now.
What was your biggest "I wish I knew that then" moment with your Gold IRA? Or any lessons learned the hard way?
