Gold IRA minimums - what was your experience?

I've been thinking a lot lately about how to best protect the nest egg my late husband and I built together. He always had such a keen eye for smart investments, and now it's my turn to carry that torch. I've been looking into Gold IRAs for a while, and it seems like a solid way to diversify and hedge against inflation, especially with all the economic uncertainty these days. My current portfolio is around the $75k mark, mostly in traditional stocks and bonds, so I'm not looking to move everything, but a good chunk of it.
One of the things that’s been a little confusing is the minimum investment requirements. Some of the companies I’ve looked at seem to have really high minimums, which honestly feels a bit intimidating. I'm in Raleigh, and I've chatted with a couple of local advisors, but I'm curious what others here have actually experienced. Did you find that the published minimums were firm, or was there some wiggle room? I’m not looking to put in less than $25k, but seeing some of these $50k+ minimums on paper makes me wonder if I'm looking at the right places for my situation.
I'm also trying to think ahead to retirement and managing those required minimum distributions (RMDs). It might be a ways off for me, but I want to be prepared. I actually found this really helpful RMD Calculator online that's been a lifesaver for planning. Seriously, if you haven't checked it out, it makes understanding RMDs so much clearer. But even with that, the initial investment size is a big factor in how those RMDs will look down the road.
So, for those of you who have opened a Gold IRA, what was your initial investment like? Did you feel pressured to meet a higher minimum than you were comfortable with, or did you find a company that worked with your budget? Any recommendations for providers that are more flexible or transparent about their true minimums would be greatly appreciated. Just trying to be a good steward of what we built, and this community always has such great insights.
