Gold IRA for smaller portfolios (sub 1M)?
- •Been seeing a lot of talk here about diversifying with gold, especially with all the craziness in the market lately.
- •I'm based here in Madison, WI, and while we're steady folks, I'm thinking about setting aside maybe 10-15% of my portfolio into a gold IRA.
- •I'm not looking to move mountains of gold, just a solid, reliable chunk, probably in the $70k-$100k range.
Been seeing a lot of talk here about diversifying with gold, especially with all the craziness in the market lately. I've got a good chunk of my retirement savings (sitting around $700k right now) tied up in pretty traditional stuff, and after 30 years in dairy, I've seen enough cycles to know things can turn on a dime. I'm based here in Madison, WI, and while we're steady folks, I'm thinking about setting aside maybe 10-15% of my portfolio into a gold IRA.
My question is for those of you who aren't necessarily managing multi-million dollar portfolios – what gold IRA companies have you had good experiences with? I'm not looking to move mountains of gold, just a solid, reliable chunk, probably in the $70k-$100k range. Some of these companies I see advertised seem geared towards the really big fish, and I'm wondering if there are better options out there for someone like me. I'm thinking about fees, transparency, and just general ease of doing business. I don't want to get nickel-and-dimed or get caught up in a bunch of hidden charges.
I value practicality and straight talk, so any recommendations or even companies to avoid based on your own real-world experience would be greatly appreciated. Did anyone run into minimum investment issues, or find a company that was particularly good about explaining the process without a lot of high-pressure sales tactics? Just trying to make a smart move here for the long haul.
