Gold IRA for "smaller" portfolios - My experience and looking for recommendations!

I've been steadily contributing to a Gold IRA for about six years now, and I'm currently sitting at around $170k in precious metals. I know that's not "small" in the grand scheme of things, but compared to some of the whales you hear about with multi-million dollar portfolios, it definitely feels like it, especially when looking at minimums and fees with some companies. I'm a healthcare administrator in Tampa, so it's a solid part of my long-term retirement planning beyond the usual 401k.
My current custodian has been… okay. Nothing terrible, but nothing outstanding either. The fees feel a little high for my portfolio size, and honestly, the communication could be better. I'm not looking for daily updates, but sometimes it feels like pulling teeth to get a clear answer on certain things. I started with a company many years ago that seemed to cater heavily to larger investors, and I often wonder if I'm just an afterthought to them.
I’m thinking about making a switch sometime in the next 12-18 months, and I'm curious what companies others here have had good experiences with, especially those who aren't necessarily looking to dump half a million into a Gold IRA right off the bat. Have any of you found custodians that are particularly good for portfolios in the $100k-$250k range? What kind of fee structures have you seen that felt fair? I really value transparency and good customer service. Any insights or war stories would be super helpful!
