Okay, so I just recently funded my Gold IRA for about $75,000, which felt like a pretty big step for my small business's retirement plan. I'm based here in Denver, and honestly, the whole process of getting it set up was a bit more involved than I initially thought it would be. I went with a company that was recommended by a friend, and they seemed okay on the sales end, but now I'm dealing with the custodian they set me up with directly and... well, it's been a little bumpy. I'm new to this whole SDIRA thing, and I just feel like their communication isn't great. I'm trying to wrap my head around things like account statements, fee structures, and frankly, I had to chase them down for confirmation on a few things.
I'm starting to wonder if I made the right choice on the custodian, or if this is just how it usually goes. Is it normal to feel a bit out of the loop? I'm used to my traditional brokerage where everything is super clear and accessible. I've only been with them for about two months, so it's not a huge commitment yet, but I want to make sure I'm with a reliable partner for the long haul. My main concern is just easy access to information and transparent fees. Anyone have experiences, good or bad, with their Gold IRA custodians they'd be willing to share?
Specifically, if you've recently opened one or moved funds, who did you go with and would you recommend them? What made them stand out? I'm a small business owner, so I'm always juggling a lot, and I really need a custodian that makes things easy to understand and readily available. I've been poking around online, looking at different options and trying to educate myself – the Learning Center has been pretty helpful for understanding the basics, but hearing real-world experiences from you all would be invaluable.
