Frustrated with my 401k to Gold IRA transfer - timeline feels glacial

Anyone else deal with a ridiculously slow 401k rollover to a physical Gold IRA? I initiated the direct transfer for a significant chunk of my old employer's 401k back in early May – we’re talking high six figures here, nearly seven. My current allocation is heavily equity-based, which has been great, but with all the Fed signaling and global uncertainty, I really wanted to shore up my physical gold position. I manage money professionally, so I get the complexities, but this is just agonizing.
My custodian (not going to name names yet, but suffice to say they're one of the big boys) has been a black hole. It’s been almost three months, and every time I call, it's "it's in process," or "we're waiting on XYZ department." Meanwhile, I'm watching the spot price fluctuate and just feeling like I'm missing out on prime entry points. The paperwork was all filled out perfectly on my end, and my new Gold IRA custodian is ready to receive. What gives? Is this typical for a rollover of this size, or am I just getting the runaround?
I mean, I'm used to dealing with multi-million dollar transactions and complex financial instruments, but this basic transfer feels like it's being handled by a team that just discovered fax machines. Is there any recourse here? Should I light a fire under my contact at the new Gold IRA company to press them harder, or is that just going to make things worse? It’s not like I desperately need the liquidity, sitting in Greenwich with a diversified portfolio, but the principle of the thing is driving me crazy.
On a related note, for anyone seriously considering their long-term strategy, especially with alternative assets, I found the Retirement Planner tool on Gold IRA Blueprint surprisingly useful. It helped me visualize different gold allocations within my broader retirement picture. But first, I need to actually get the gold into the account!
