So, I finally pulled the trigger and started my Gold IRA! Been thinking about it for years, especially with my government pension feeling a little… vulnerable these days. I'm a good 15 years out from retirement, but my financial advisor convinced me it was time to diversify a bit beyond just stocks and bonds. I ended up going with Regal Assets after doing a ton of research, and honestly, the process was pretty smooth sailing so far. I rolled over about $75k from an old 401k – felt like a good chunk to start with without putting all my eggs in one basket.
My question is, for those of you who have been in this game longer, what should I be expecting now? I got my initial statements and all, but this is a totally different beast than my standard brokerage account. Any red flags to watch out for down the line with Regal? Or general tips for managing a physical metals IRA? I'm in Albuquerque, and the storage facility is out of state, which I expected, but just curious about others' experiences.
I’ve been playing around with that Gold IRA Calculator trying to project what this could look like in 10-15 years, and the numbers are pretty encouraging if gold keeps its value, but obviously, past performance isn't a guarantee. Just trying to be realistic. Any advice on how often people typically reassess their precious metals allocations? And what was your experience like with your first gold IRA company?
Feeling a bit nervous but mostly excited about this step for my retirement security. Thanks in advance for any insights!
