Finally seeing the gold pay off after a long haul

Been a part of this community for a while, mostly lurking and reading your guys' insights on the gold market. Figured it was time to share a bit of my own story, especially since I'm finally seeing some serious traction after years of being in physical gold and a Gold IRA. I’m thinking about all of those folks back when I started, probably around 2010, who were saying gold was a dead investment. Well, for me, it sure as heck hasn't been.
I started with my first chunk of physical gold way back when I sold off part of my dairy farm. Ended up with about 200k that I allocated to precious metals – mostly gold, some silver – bought directly from a dealer out of Milwaukee. Then, a few years later, when I decided to roll over an old 401k from my time at Grande Cheese, I decided to put another 300k into a Gold IRA. Everyone I knew in Madison was either in real estate or tech stocks, and here I was, the "gold guy." My wife thought I was a bit crazy at first, but she’s come around, especially now.
Fast forward to today, and that initial 500k is sitting pretty close to the 800k mark. It’s not "get rich overnight" money, but it’s a solid, steady increase that’s making me feel a lot more comfortable about retirement. Especially with all the talk about inflation and the way the market has been swinging like a gate in a tornado lately. It’s a good feeling knowing I’ve got that stability. Just wanted to throw this out there for anyone feeling discouraged or wondering if it's worth it to hold physical assets. Sometimes, patience really does pay off.
What are some of your biggest "aha!" moments with gold or silver? Anyone else feel like they were going against the grain when they first started investing in precious metals?
