Finally seeing real returns on my Gold IRA, feels good man

Hard to believe it's been almost ten years since I first opened my Gold IRA. Back then, it felt like a gamble, everyone around me was piling into tech stocks, and I was just trying to diversification beyond the standard mutual funds and some land holdings. Had about $150k in it to start, mostly physical gold and a bit of silver. My financial advisor thought I was a bit of a contrarian, but honestly, growing up on a horse farm here outside Louisville, you learn to be practical about wealth. You see the cyclical nature of things, and having something tangible always appealed to me.
For a long time, it just... sat there. Price swings were minimal, certainly nothing to write home about compared to some of the crazy gains my buddies were boasting about. There were definitely times I questioned my decision, especially when the market was doing well. But I just kept on, adding a little more here and there, mostly when I had a good year with the farm or when I felt the market was getting a little too frothy. Probably up to around $220k in there now, not counting today's bump.
Well, with all the economic uncertainty, inflation, and general global weirdness, my gold IRA has really started to shine. Been watching the price tick up steadily over the last year or so, and it actually feels good to see that part of my portfolio performing strongly while other areas are a bit... wobbly. It’s not about getting rich overnight, never was. It's about preserving purchasing power and having a reliable hedge.
Anyone else feeling this renewed confidence in their precious metals holdings lately? What’s your experience been like, especially if you’ve held for a good long while? Sometimes it feels like you're the only one thinking this way, but I guess patience really does pay off in this game.
