Been thinking about this for a while, and finally decided to diversify my Gold IRA with some silver. Started with a good chunk of gold a few years back, around $75k worth, after selling off some non-performing land here in Fresno. Agriculture’s been good to me, but I always believe in having tangible assets you can hold, especially when the market feels like it’s running on fumes.
My advisor at Augusta Precious Metals (been good to me, recommend them if you're looking for a reliable outfit) suggested adding some silver bars to the mix. Initially, I was a bit hesitant. Gold feels like the ultimate safe haven, the OG metal. But with all the talk about industrial demand for silver, especially in solar panels and EV batteries, it just made sense to get in. Ended up allocating about $15k to silver, mostly in 100oz bars. Just got the confirmation that they’re in the vault.
Feeling pretty good about the decision. It's a modest allocation, but it feels like the right move, especially with inflation creeping higher and higher. Gold's my backbone, but silver feels like it has more upside potential right now, given its dual role as a monetary and industrial metal. Plus, the price difference compared to gold makes it feel like you're getting a lot more physical asset for your dollar, which, as someone who deals in commodities, I appreciate.
Anyone else here diversified into silver within their precious metals IRA? What are your thoughts on silver's long-term prospects compared to gold? Thinking about adding more depending on how things shake out over the next 12-18 months.
