Finally pulled the trigger on adding silver to my Gold IRA - feeling good about it

For years it's been pretty much exclusively gold in my IRA, just felt like the safer, more traditional bet, especially with how my family's always operated. Got about $380k in there now, and it's been mostly a set-it-and-forget-it kind of thing. My grandfather started this whole Gold IRA tradition back in the 70s, swore by it for weathering any economic storm, especially with all the timber market fluctuations. He always hammered home the importance of tangible assets. Well, after a lot of back and forth, I finally decided to diversify within the precious metals and added a decent chunk of silver last month.
I know, I know, some people think silver is more volatile, and for a long time that kept me hesitant. My dad always said gold is "true wealth" and silver is "industrial." But honestly, looking at how much more affordable silver is right now compared to gold, it felt like a smart move to leverage that leverage, if you know what I mean. Iβm thinking long-term here, not trying to day trade silver. Weβre talking generational wealth preservation, and with inflation ticking up and all the global unrest, having exposure to both felt like a no-brainer for my peace of mind. Plus, with all the talk about its industrial demand increasing for EVs and solar, it feels like it has some serious upside that gold doesn't necessarily have in the same way, beyond just being a safe haven.
Ended up allocating about 15% of my precious metals portfolio to silver, so roughly $57k. The company I use in Spokane made the process super easy. I actually liked that I could get more ounces of silver for the same dollar value than gold. It just felt like I was getting more "stuff." Kind of a primitive feeling, I guess, but it felt good. Anyone else out there primarily a gold investor who recently decided to dip their toes into silver for their IRA? What were your triggers? Any regrets or major wins youβve seen?
