Finally pulled the trigger on a Silver IRA after years of on-the-fence

I've been lurking on these subs for a while, mostly reading about various Gold IRA setups and rollover experiences. As a lawyer in Philly, with a pretty substantial portfolio – thinking somewhere in the $750k range – my focus has always been on wealth preservation. I've seen enough economic cycles to know that putting all your eggs in the equities basket, especially when you're looking at retirement within the next 10-15 years, is just asking for trouble. So, I’ve had a significant portion in gold for a few years now, and things have been great.
However, I've been debating silver for ages. The volatility always gave me pause, frankly. But with the current economic climate, the rising inflation worries, and just the general sense of unease out there, it felt like the right time. I finally decided to roll over about 15% of my existing IRA into a Silver IRA. I went with a reputable custodian, did my due diligence on their fees and storage options like a hawk, and got the paperwork done last month. It wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be, truthfully. A good chunk of it is in American Silver Eagles, just for that recognized value and liquidity.
My strategy here is pretty simple: diversification and a hedge against the dollar. I’m not looking to get rich quick with silver; this is a long-term play, pure and simple. The idea is to have that tangible asset, a physical store of value outside of the traditional financial system. With everything going on politically and economically, it just feels like a smart move to have a portion of my retirement savings in both gold and silver. It helps me sleep a little better at night, knowing I'm not entirely exposed to whatever craziness the market decides to throw our way next.
Has anyone else here made a similar move recently? What are your thoughts on the current silver market for IRAs? I'm curious to hear if others are leaning more heavily into silver right now, or if gold is still the overwhelming favorite for wealth preservation. Any particular types of silver coins or bars you’re recommending for an IRA that might be less common but good value?
