So after months of thinking it over, I finally decided to diversify a bit within my precious metals IRA. Mostly been a gold guy for the last few years, ever since I really dug into the whole "real assets" philosophy. Gold's been good to me, especially with all the crazy stuff happening in the markets lately.
My Gold IRA is sitting around the $75k mark currently, all in physical gold. But I've been reading a lot of chatter, both here and in other places, about silver's potential. Heard a few guys down at the co-op talking it up too, and it just got me thinking. My business, you know, agriculture in Fresno, you see how interconnected everything is. When you're dealing with hard commodities all day, the idea of having something tangible, something that isn't just digits on a screen, really resonates.
Decided to allocate about 15% of my portfolio to silver this past week. Not a huge chunk, just enough to get my feet wet and see how it performs alongside the gold. The logic for me was simple: industrial demand, lower price point (meaning more upside potential if it really takes off from here), and it still offers that same hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty that I value in gold. Plus, it just feels right to have a little more diversity in that asset class.
Anyone else here made a similar move recently? What was your reasoning? And for those who have held silver for a while, any specific insights or things I should be looking out for? Always appreciate hearing from others in the same boat.
