Finally feeling secure after years of building my Gold IRA!

I know a lot of folks on here are just getting started or curious about Gold IRAs, and I wanted to share a little bit of a success story to hopefully inspire some of you. My husband and I are farmers here in rural Missouri, just outside Kansas City, and honestly, the past few years have been a rollercoaster. Fuel prices, crop yields – it's enough to make you pull your hair out. We've always believed in tangible wealth, something you can actually hold in your hand, so getting into a Gold IRA felt like a natural fit for our retirement planning.
We started ours probably about six or seven years ago with a chunky rollover from an old 401k, maybe around $30,000 to begin. It felt like a big leap at the time! We've been adding to it steadily since then, mostly smaller contributions from our savings when we have good harvest years. We're not high rollers by any means, but watching that account balance slowly climb, even when the market was acting squirrely, has given us such peace of mind. We're sitting on probably close to $80,000 in physical gold in that IRA now, and it just feels so solid compared to our regular investment accounts.
There were definitely moments of doubt early on, especially when the price dipped a bit. My husband would tease me, "Is that shiny stuff actually doing anything, honey?" But I stuck with it because I just had this gut feeling. And now, seeing what's happening with inflation and the general uncertainty in the world, I feel so much better knowing a significant portion of our retirement nest egg isn't tied up in volatile stocks. It's truly our bulwark against all the economic storms.
For those of you on the fence, or maybe feeling a little disheartened by slow growth, just wanted to say keep at it! It's a marathon, not a sprint. What are some of your biggest "wins" or moments of relief with your Gold IRAs? I'd love to hear how others are feeling about their long-term precious metals investments.
