Hey everyone,
Just wanted to share a quick win I had recently. As a small business owner here in El Paso, I'm always looking for ways to diversify my investments, especially with all the ups and downs in the market. I’ve known about Gold IRAs for a while, and the idea of having a tangible asset always appealed to me, given the cross-border economic shifts I see daily. But honestly, trying to figure out if my existing retirement accounts were even eligible to be rolled over was a headache. I have a SEP IRA, an old 401k from a previous employer, and a Roth that I contribute to. Sifting through all the fine print, the different custodian rules… it felt like speaking three different languages at once. I was really dragging my feet on getting started because of it.
Then, by chance, I stumbled upon an Eligibility Checker online a few weeks ago. It seemed simple enough, asking a few questions about my current accounts. I decided to give it a shot, figuring what did I have to lose? To my surprise, it walked me through all my different retirement accounts – literally checking them one by one for their eligibility for a gold IRA rollover. It wasn't just a generic "yes/no" answer; it gave me specific insights into which accounts were easy to roll over and which might have more restrictions or tax implications. It clarified that my SEP IRA and that old 401k were prime candidates, which was a huge relief! Knowing this definitely helped me understand that a significant portion of my ~150k retirement portfolio could be diversified into precious metals easily. It took away so much of the uncertainty.
It’s really helped me move forward with confidence. I’m now in touch with a precious metals specialist to talk about the actual allocation. Has anyone else used a tool like this? Or ran into similar roadblocks trying to figure out if their various retirement accounts were good candidates for a Gold IRA? Would love to hear your experiences!
Best,
Laura Sanchez
