Finally added silver to my Gold IRA - feeling good about it

Just bit the bullet and diversified my precious metals IRA with some silver. For the longest time, I was 100% gold with my IRA contributions, figuring it was the ultimate safe haven. Most of my roughly $75k portfolio was in American Gold Eagles, a pretty standard play, I think. But after watching the gold/silver ratio bounce around and doing a lot of reading on this sub, I started to feel like I was missing out on some potential.
My main goal with this IRA is to supplement my government pension once I retire in about 15 years. I'm not looking to get rich quick, but I am looking to preserve purchasing power and have a solid hedge against inflation. This just feels like a smarter, more balanced approach. I ended up converting about $10k of my existing gold holdings into some Silver Eagles and a few 10oz bars. It wasn't a huge shift, but enough to feel like I've got some exposure to silver's upside without over-committing.
I guess part of it is also just feeling a bit more secure. Gold is great, but silver has that dual role as an industrial metal on top of its monetary value. With all the talk about green tech and new manufacturing, it just feels like silver's demand is only going to grow. Being here in Albuquerque, I'm constantly aware of the tech and energy sectors, and it just clicked that silver plays a pretty big part in all that. Did anyone else mainly start with gold and then add silver later? What were your triggers?
