Feeling good about my gold holdings with all this

Anyone else feeling pretty decent with their gold investments given all the chatter about a potential recession? I've been seeing a lot of headlines lately that are making me thankful I diversified a good chunk of my portfolio into precious metals a while back. I’m a doctor here in Boston, and while my practice is fairly secure, I've got enough invested that a downturn would definitely sting if I wasn't diversified. We’re talking a pretty decent chunk, probably around a high six-figure portfolio, so protecting that capital is always on my mind, especially as I look towards future retirement.
I started seriously looking into a Gold IRA about five years ago, probably around the time my son was heading off to college and I really wanted to shore things up. It felt like a smart, conservative move then, and it's feeling even smarter now. I’ve probably got somewhere between 10-15% of my total portfolio in physical gold, held in an IRA, and it's been a comforting presence through some of the recent market jitters. It’s not for huge gains, obviously, but more for that stability and as a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. I remember my dad always talking about gold as a safe haven, and it's really stuck with me.
The recent inflation numbers, the Fed’s tightening, and general geopolitical instability just make me feel like we're walking a pretty thin line. I'm not predicting doom and gloom, but I'm definitely a believer in being prepared. Are others here feeling that same sense of reassurance from their precious metal holdings? Or are some of you thinking of adding more given the current climate? I'm debating whether to bump up my allocation slightly, maybe another 5%, as a further buffer. Always curious to hear how others are strategizing.
