Just wanted to share my experience with rolling over a chunk of my 401k into a Gold IRA, specifically with GoldCo. I’m a jeweler here in Providence, so I’ve been around precious metals my whole life. I’ve seen firsthand how volatile even "stable" markets can be, and with the way things are going lately, I just felt a strong push to diversify outside of traditional stocks and bonds.
I had about $75k in an old 401k sitting there, not really doing much for me and honestly, the thought of it being entirely tied to the market was starting to give me heartburn. I did a ton of research, probably more than the average person because of my background, and kept coming back to precious metals. GoldCo seemed to have the best reputation for being straightforward and less pushy than some of the others. Their customer service was great – really helpful walking me through the process, which, I’ll admit, felt a little daunting at first.
The actual rollover itself took about 3 weeks from start to finish. I was pretty nervous submitting all the paperwork, but they made it surprisingly smooth. Now I’ve got a good portion of that 401k sitting in physical gold, held in a secure vault, and honestly, the peace of mind is worth every penny of the fees. It’s not about getting rich quick; it’s about preserving what I’ve built up and having a hedge against inflation and economic uncertainty. As a business owner, I've seen enough economic downturns to know that having a tangible asset is crucial.
Has anyone else in the New England area gone through a similar process recently? Would be curious to hear about your experiences, especially with different companies or different types of metals within the IRA. Always good to compare notes.
