Fed's playing with fire, and gold's my smoke detector

Anyone else feeling this knots-in-their-stomach vibe from the Fed lately? It just feels like they're trying to walk a tightrope blindfolded, and every time Powell opens his mouth, I'm checking my phone for some new economic indicator that's gonna hit us sideways. I mean, we're building houses and commercial spaces all over Chicago, and even with the demand, the cost of materials and borrowing is just nuts. It makes me question everything about traditional investments.
That's why I went heavy into a Gold IRA a few years back, and honestly, it’s one of the few things that helps me sleep at night. I put about 300k into it when things started looking shaky, and it's been a steady hand in an otherwise rocky market. Seeing how they're handling inflation, then talking about rate cuts, then hinting at more hikes... it's like they can't make up their minds, and that unpredictability is what scares me most for my kids’ future. Tangible assets just feel safer, more real, especially when you literally hold the rebar in your hands every day.
I know some folks on here always chime in with the "gold doesn't pay dividends" line, and yeah, I get that. But frankly, the peace of mind knowing a chunk of my retirement isn't tied to some algorithm or the whims of a central bank is worth more than a few percentage points of dividends right now. It's about wealth preservation, pure and simple, and diversifying away from all the digital noise.
What are you all seeing? Do you think the Fed's going to actually manage a "soft landing" or are we in for a bumpy ride? More importantly, how is this making you reassess your own portfolios, especially those of you with significant holdings? Just curious to hear other perspectives since it feels like everyone's a bit on edge.
