Fed rate decision tomorrow - how are you guys prepping?
- •Okay, so the Fed meeting is tomorrow, and honestly, I'm feeling a bit on edge.
- •I’ve got about $200k in my portfolio, and a decent chunk of that is in my Gold IRA, specifically in Eagles and Buffalos.
- •The volatility just before these rate decisions always makes me a little antsy, even though I know gold typically does well in uncertain times.
Okay, so the Fed meeting is tomorrow, and honestly, I'm feeling a bit on edge. I’ve got about $200k in my portfolio, and a decent chunk of that is in my Gold IRA, specifically in Eagles and Buffalos. I’ve been building it up for a while now, looking to hit that early retirement goal in the next 10 years or so (currently 42, marketing exec here in Minneapolis with a decent runway). The volatility just before these rate decisions always makes me a little antsy, even though I know gold typically does well in uncertain times.
My concern is, if they don't hike rates, or if they signal a softer stance than expected, will that take some of the shine off gold in the short term? I'm playing the long game here, absolutely, but seeing any dips always makes me second-guess things a tiny bit. On the flip side, if they surprise everyone with a bigger hike, I feel like gold should perform well as a hedge against inflation and economic jitters. It’s all a bit of a head game, you know?
I’ve been using the Retirement Planner tool I found online to model out different scenarios for my gold holdings, which has been helpful for visualizing the long-term impact. But in the immediate, how do you all typically prepare for these kinds of announcements? Are you adjusting your allocation at all, or just holding steady and trusting the long-term thesis for gold? Would love to hear some thoughts, especially from anyone else in a similar boat with their retirement savings.
