Diversifying my Gold IRA into Silver - Smart Move or Nah?

Okay, so I'm about three years out from my target for an early retirement, and my Gold IRA has been a solid anchor in my portfolio. I've got enough in there that it feels significant – definitely in the low six figures, which for a marketing exec in Minneapolis, feels pretty good. But I've been doing a lot of deep dives lately, especially with all the economic uncertainty floating around, and I decided to pull the trigger on adding silver to my IRA.
My reasoning was two-fold. First, while I love gold for its stability and long-term value preservation, I've been eyeing silver's industrial demand. With all the green energy initiatives and tech advancements, it seems like silver has a lot more fundamental growth potential beyond just being a monetary metal. I’m thinking those supply constraints combined with increasing demand could lead to some significant upside. Plus, it's definitely the more volatile of the two, which, call me crazy, but a little calculated risk feels right at this stage for a portion of things.
I also just liked the idea of further diversifying within the precious metals space. It felt a bit like putting all my eggs in one very shiny, expensive, yellow basket before. When I was looking at things like the Gold vs Stocks Comparison tool, it reinforced how crucial diversification is, even within asset classes. I mean, my stock portfolio is already pretty well-spread out, so why not my physical assets too?
So, for those of you who have taken a similar path, or even those who haven't, what are your thoughts? Did I make a good call here, or am I overthinking it? Curious to hear if anyone else has gone down this road and how it's worked out for them.
