diversification with silver?

I've been thinking a lot about my Gold IRA lately, especially with all the economic uncertainty floating around. I started it up about five years ago, putting in a decent chunk from an old 401k rollover – probably around $70k at the time. I'm a government employee here in Albuquerque, so my pension is solid, but I really want that extra cushion for retirement. My initial thought was 100% gold, mostly because it felt like the ultimate safe haven.
But recently, I diversified a bit and added some silver. It wasn't a huge amount, maybe 10-15% of my total precious metals. My reasoning was a few things: first, the price point for silver is way more accessible. Second, I’ve read a lot about its industrial uses, which makes me think it has a different kind of demand dynamic than just pure investment gold. It feels like a good hedge against different types of downturns. Plus, honestly, watching gold tick up slowly is great, but silver has that potential for bigger swings, and I’m willing to take a little more risk for potentially higher rewards.
I spent a while researching before making the jump. The Learning Center really helped me understand the different types of silver to consider for an IRA and the tax implications. It was good to get a broader perspective beyond just "gold is good." Has anyone else here diversified their precious metals IRA with silver? What were your reasons? Was it mostly for industrial demand, or are you looking for different growth potential?
