    The 3-step rollover process explained

Hey everyone, just stumbled across this article about Elemetal silver bars: Elemetal Silver Bars: Features, Value, and Investment Insights. I know we talk a lot about gold here, but I've personally been looking at diversifying a bit more into silver lately, especially with the current market volatility. This article gives a pretty good rundown of Elemetal, highlighting their 99.9% purity and the fact that they're from one of America's larger refineries. It got me thinking about my own physical silver holdings, which are mostly a mixed bag of coins right now.

My initial reaction is that Elemetal sounds like a solid, reputable option, which is always key when you're talking about precious metals – especially when you're trying to stack for retirement like I am. I've heard good things about the larger refiners, and consistency in quality is super important. The spread on silver can sometimes eat into profits, so going with a brand known for its reliability seems like a no-brainer. I've learned the hard way with a few "deals" on lesser-known brands that ended up just being a headache. It's not just about the weight; it's about the trust and liquidity when you eventually need to sell.

Does anyone here have Elemetal bars in their portfolio? Or even other products from them? What are your experiences? I'm curious if the premiums are competitive compared to other major refiners, and if there are any specific sizes you prefer for stacking. Always good to get real-world feedback from you all. Thinking about adding some to my kids' "future" accounts too, as a long-term play.

Interesting discussion on Elemetal. While I appreciate the sentiment, I've always viewed these types of highly branded, lower-premium silver bars with a bit of skepticism for actual investment. I mean, sure, the 100oz stack of these I picked up years ago for under $20 an ounce felt great at the time, but the real play, especially when you're talking several hundred grand in metal, is always going to be the less 'marketed' bullion or even some specific numismatics. You end up paying for the name and the fancy design, and in a true crisis, the guy with generic rounds or a Kilo bar is going to be just as well off, if not better, without the extra premium erosion.

Elemetal bars are decent, but honestly, I shifted a good chunk of my physical silver holdings into a Gold IRA a couple of years back. Best decision I made for hedging against inflation. The Learning Center at https://learn.goldirablueprint.com/?forum has some great guides if you're just starting out investigating the process – that's where I really got a handle on the custodian setup and IRS regulations. Made the whole thing feel a lot less intimidating, especially when moving substantial funds.

Appreciate the detailed breakdown on the Elemetal bars. Given their relatively new presence compared to some of the more established mints, have folks found their premiums are still holding steady, or are they seeing fluctuations more akin to generic rounds when it comes to resale back to dealers, especially on larger 100oz+ bars?

Saw someone mention Elemetal and it brought me back. I picked up about 100oz of their 10oz bars back in late 2017 when silver was hovering around $17. My Gold IRA was already pretty solid, but I wanted to diversify a bit more into physical. Funny enough, I ended up selling most of it in early 2021 when things spiked, using those gains to roll into more gold for the IRA. Still got a couple of their pieces for sentimental value though – they always had a nice, clean pour.

Having recently diversified a significant portion of my retirement savings with a gold IRA, I've spent considerable time researching various precious metals beyond just gold. Elemetal bars are definitely on my radar for their blend of liquidity and aesthetic appeal. For those looking to bolster their physical holdings, especially when considering a 401k rollover, don't overlook silver – there are some excellent tax advantages with proper structuring.

Been stacking for close to 20 years, mostly in gold, but I picked up a few Elemetal 10oz bars back in 2017 when silver was hovering around $17. The premium was decent, and the assay marks gave me confidence. For anything over 5oz, I always tell folks to check the refinery's reputation first; my dad learned that the hard way with some sketchy "deal" he got in Juarez back in the 80s.

Interesting thread, everyone. Regarding Elemetal, I almost pulled the trigger on a bunch of their 10oz bars back in 2017 when I first started diversifying my retirement portfolio into precious metals. I remember the premium was really attractive then, like 75 cents over spot, and I was looking to allocate about $50,000 of my IRA into silver and gold. Ultimately, I went with some PAMP Suisse Gold and a handful of Sunshine Minting silver rounds instead, mostly because I found a local dealer here in Albuquerque that had them in stock and offered a slightly better deal on storage in their vaults. Glad I did, my Gold IRA has been the star of my portfolio these last few years.

This is a solid breakdown of Elemetal, though I do wonder if we're putting too much emphasis on specific bar manufacturers when discussing a long-term precious metals strategy. For me, the decision to allocate a portion of my portfolio – roughly 10% of my six-figure holdings – into physical gold via a Gold IRA, has always been less about the mint mark on the bar and more about the intrinsic value and inflation hedge it provides, especially living here in Boston where the cost of living just keeps climbing. While premium differences are certainly a factor, I've found focusing on the overall purity and storage solutions is often a more impactful discussion for the average investor than dissecting every single manufacturer's "investment insights.

@Christopher Young - That's a great question about Elemetal premiums. I also found myself wondering about their long-term stability, especially when weighing them against more venerable mints. For those of us with a larger allocation in precious metals, say closer to my 7-figure portfolio in Greenwich, how much weight should we really be giving to these newer players when considering the liquidation process years down the line? I used the Best Gold IRA Companies tool at Gold IRA Blueprint to zero in on my initial choices, but this kind of nuanced re-evaluation is always helpful.

@Brian Edwards - Good on you for doing your due diligence! I actually just rolled over a chunk of my old 401k into a Gold IRA earlier this year, about $150k worth, and I'm based here in Tulsa. For me, beyond just gold, I've been keeping a close eye on the silver-to-gold ratio. There's a great tool on GoldPrice.org that easily visualizes it historically – really helped me decide to allocate a modest portion into silver Eagles alongside my gold Buffaloes.

Interesting discussion on Elemetal, folks. While I appreciate the sentiment around fractional silver and the accessibility it offers, I've personally leaned away from Elemetal in my own precious metals investing. Over the years, particularly after pouring over a few financial forecasts and geopolitical analyses, I've opted to concentrate my physical holdings primarily in 1 oz and 10 oz coins from sovereign mints, like American Silver Eagles or Canadian Maples. For the bulk of my portfolio allocated to precious metals (which is a significant percentage of my 7-figure portfolio), the liquidity and universally recognized premium of sovereign coinage just feels like a more secure bet, especially if a rapid liquidation scenario were ever to arise, which admittedly, I'm always planning for here in Memphis.

Interesting thread! I'm pretty new to the gold IRA game, just opened mine up last year after finally feeling comfortable with the diversification. My advisor actually mentioned Elemetal for silver, but I ended up going with some various 1 oz and 10 oz coins for simplicity. Has anyone here actually purchased Elemetal bars for their IRA? Are there any specific differences in premium or liquidity compared to the more common sovereign coins for an IRA buyback?

@David Brown I hear you on the bar manufacturer point, and for the most part, I agree – a gram of gold is a gram of gold. But from a liquidity standpoint, especially if you're ever looking to move a significant amount of metal quickly, having a well-known, readily accepted bar like those from Elemetal can actually make a difference. Last year, when I rebalanced a portion of my portfolio after some real estate gains down here in Palm Beach, the process of offloading some of my lesser-known bars was notably slower than the Elemetal and Perth Mint stuff. It's a small detail, but in a volatile market, those small details can save you time and, ultimately, a little bit of stress. By the way, if you're near retirement, the RMD Calculator is super helpful for staying on top of those distributions.
