Why I Finally Added Silver to My Gold IRA (and maybe you should too!)
Thought I'd share a bit about my investment journey lately. I've had a Gold IRA for a solid few years now, maybe 7-8 years? Always been a believer in the power of precious metals as a hedge, especially with how things have been feeling economically. My portfolio is sitting comfortably around the high 60s, low 70s mark right now, mostly gold, which has been great.
Living in Boise, and being pretty involved in the community (small town mayor, you know how it is), I’m always thinking about stability, not just for myself but for the folks around me too. I’ve always been a gold guy, felt like the ultimate safe haven. But lately, I’ve been looking more and more at silver. I stumbled upon this tool, Silver vs Stocks, which really got me thinking. You can compare silver's performance against stocks over different periods, and when I looked at the 10-year, it was pretty eye-opening.
So, after a lot of back and forth, I decided to pull the trigger and diversify a chunk of my Gold IRA into silver. It wasn't a huge amount, maybe 10-15k to start, but it feels like a good move for balancing things out. My thinking was that silver, while more volatile, also has more industrial demand, which could provide some interesting upside down the road. Plus, with the current inflation worries, having both those physical assets just feels right. What are everyone else's thoughts on adding silver to an established Gold IRA? Did you go for it, and why (or why not)?
