Alright, so Iβve been sitting on a pretty decent chunk, about $750k in my Gold IRA for a few years now. Originally went with a big name, one of the ones you see advertised everywhere, mainly because it felt "safe" and I didn't know enough to dig deeper. But honestly, the fees have been... something else. And their communication is pretty boilerplate. Iβm an entrepreneur in Austin, so I appreciate efficiency and directness, and I just haven't been getting that from them.
I'm looking to transfer my assets and find a custodian thatβs more transparent with their fee structure and offers genuinely good customer service. I'm talking about people who actually answer the phone and can explain things clearly, not just read from a script. With the market being as wild as it is, having that peace of mind that my alternative assets are handled well is a huge deal. Itβs a good chunk of my portfolio, so Iβm not messing around here.
So, for those of you who have Gold IRAs, who are you using as a custodian? What has your experience been like, good or bad? Iβm particularly interested if anyone has experience with custodians that are more tech-forward or at least have decent online portals. I've spent enough time dealing with clunky interfaces in my own business, don't want to deal with it for my investments.
Any red flags I should watch out for during the transfer process? Iβve heard some custodians can make it a real pain. Appreciate any insights you all have. Let's talk custodians!
