Birch Gold Group - My Experience (Philly-based investor)

I've been seeing a lot of chatter lately, particularly regarding Birch Gold Group and how they handle "smaller" accounts. As someone who recently rolled over a decent chunk into a Gold IRA with them, I wanted to share my experience, especially for those of us who aren't talking 7-figure transfers. My initial rollover was around $350,000, which, let's be honest, isn't chump change, but it’s certainly not Elon Musk money either. I'm based here in Philadelphia, and my focus has always been on wealth preservation rather than aggressive growth, which is why precious metals have become a much larger part of my portfolio strategy in the past few years, especially with all the economic uncertainty.
My account representative at Birch Gold was incredibly patient. Coming from a legal background, I appreciate thoroughness and clear communication, and they delivered. We spent probably 3-4 hours on the phone over a few weeks, going through all the options, fees, and the rollover process itself. One specific concern I had was the storage details – I wanted to understand the insurance and audit procedures for the depository. They provided detailed documentation. While I didn't get the "red carpet" treatment some of the multi-million dollar clients might, I never felt like an afterthought. They were responsive to my emails and calls, usually getting back to me within a few hours.
The actual transfer process was smooth, thankfully. My previous 401(k) provider (a national brokerage firm) is notorious for slow paperwork, but Birch Gold's back office team seemed to know all the angles for pushing things along. From initial contact to the metals actually being in segregated storage at Delaware Depository took about 5 weeks. I chose physical delivery for the actual metals in my IRA, which was important to me. Fees were transparently laid out upfront, no surprises. Are they the absolute cheapest? Probably not. But the service, expertise, and peace of mind were worth the cost for me.
Has anyone else here, perhaps with a similar portfolio size ($250k - $750k), worked with Birch Gold or another provider and had contrasting experiences? I'm curious if my positive interaction is typical for their mid-sized clients or if I just got lucky with a great rep. What specific concerns did you have when choosing a Gold IRA provider, and how were they addressed?
