Rolling into my 60s pretty soon and have been diversifying my portfolio like crazy over the past decade. Came into some serious capital when I sold off three of my prime Aspen properties back in '19, right before things went completely sideways. Smartest move I ever made. Anyway, I've always been heavy into hard assets – development is my game, so concrete and steel are my bread and butter. Had a decent chunk in physical silver bars already, mostly from a few smaller dealers I've used over the years, but I was looking to really scale up the precious metals part of my portfolio and potentially roll over some older 401ks.
That's where Augusta Precious Metals came in. Saw their spiel, heard some good things through my network, and decided to give their whole Gold IRA thing a look. I'm talking a 7-figure rollover from an old corporate 401k and a separate purchase of some serious silver tonnage. My primary concern was obviously security and making sure the entire process was seamless and above board, especially with the amounts we were discussing. They walked me through the entire process, including the whole self-directed IRA setup, which was surprisingly less of a headache than I anticipated. The team was sharp, knew their stuff, and didn't try any high-pressure sales tactics, which I appreciated.
The silver bars specifically – I went with a mix of 100oz and кило bars. Delivery was handled discreetly and securely, as promised. The valuations they provided were competitive with market rates, which is what I'd expect from a reputable dealer. It's been about 18 months now since the initial setup, and I'm feeling pretty damn good about the decision. My portfolio is sitting comfortably around the $5.5 million mark right now, and having that tangible asset allocation just provides an added layer of peace of mind with all the economic uncertainty out there. Anyone else using Augusta for their precious metals? What's your experience been like, especially with the current market volatility?
One thing I will say for anyone considering them: do your due diligence. I went in with a clear understanding of my investment goals and what I was looking for. Don't just jump in blind. But for what I needed – a significant, secure precious metals investment with a straightforward process – they absolutely delivered. Curious to hear if anyone else has run into any hiccups or if your experience was as smooth as mine.
