Augusta Precious Metals - My Rollover Experience (Decent, But...)

Alright, so I finally pulled the trigger on a Gold IRA rollover with Augusta Precious Metals a few months back, and figured I'd share my experience for anyone else weighing their options. I'm one of those guys who just doesn't trust paper assets, especially with how crazy the market's been. Being in construction, I see value in things you can touch, things that are real. That's why I wanted a good chunk of my retirement in physical gold and silver, not just digital promises.
My portfolio's sitting around the $400k mark right now, and I decided to roll over about $150k from a traditional IRA. The Augusta folks were... fine. Not stellar, not terrible. The sales process was smooth enough, they explained everything clearly, and didn't feel overly pushy. They walked me through the different metals, the storage options (I went with Delaware Depository, seemed solid), and the whole rollover paperwork. My main gripes were honestly just feeling a bit like a number. I'm used to a bit more personalized attention when you're talking about that kind of money. Also, the buy/sell spreads weren't amazing but definitely not the worst I've seen. It felt like I had to do a bit of haggling myself, rather than them coming in with their best offer from the get go. For anyone looking into this, definitely run the numbers on those spreads before committing.
The actual rollover itself took about 3 weeks from start to finish, which was pretty much what they quoted. Communication was decent; I got regular updates, but again, nothing that blew me away. I just recently checked out a tool called the Retirement Planner which is pretty neat for modeling how different asset allocations, including precious metals, could impact future retirement income. I kinda wish I’d found that before I locked everything in, but it’s still helpful for planning future moves. It really hammers home the importance of having solid diversification.
Overall, my experience with Augusta was positive enough that I'd probably recommend them, especially for someone who wants a straightforward rollover without too many complications. But don't go in expecting a red carpet. Have any of you guys used them? Or other companies that you liked better for a significant rollover? Always interested to hear other people's takes.
