Thought I’d share my experience with Augusta Precious Metals for anyone on the fence. I opened an Gold IRA with them about five years ago, transferring over a substantial chunk of my retirement savings – north of $750k at the time. I'd been watching the economic tea leaves and after a career as a CEO, I've learned to trust my gut on these things. Saw too much volatility in the market and wanted some tangible assets outside of traditional paper investments. Figured it was time to put a significant portion into a metals allocation.
The whole process was surprisingly smooth. I mean, I’m used to dealing with high-end financial advisors and a certain level of service, and Augusta met that expectation. My onboarding specialist was knowledgeable without being pushy, which I appreciated. They walked me through everything, from selecting the right coins to understanding the storage options. I opted for Delaware Depository – seemed like the most secure choice for the volume I was holding. Never had a single issue with their responsiveness or clarity. Any time I had a question, I got a straight answer pretty quickly.
Now, five years on, I'm very happy with my decision. The peace of mind alone is worth a lot, especially seeing how things have played out recently. While I certainly wouldn't call myself a doomsday prepper, having that physical gold and silver allocated to my retirement account just feels right. It’s a foundational asset, something a bit more concrete than digital numbers on a screen. My portfolio is actually closer to $1.2M in metals now due to some additional diversification and, naturally, market appreciation.
My only real "complaint," if you can even call it that, is the general lack of liquidity compared to stocks. But then again, that's par for the course with physical assets, and it's a trade-off I willingly made for stability and long-term preservation. For anyone in a similar position, looking to diversify and protect their retirement, I’d seriously consider them. Has anyone else here had a long-term relationship with them or another Gold IRA provider? What have your experiences been?
