Thought I’d share my experience with Augusta Precious Metals for anyone on the fence or just starting their research. I’ve been with them for almost exactly 10 years now, opened up my Gold IRA right around the time I turned 40. I’m a government employee here in Albuquerque, so I’ve got my pension coming, but I really wanted to diversify and just have something tangible outside of the stock market. With about $75k in my IRA, Augusta helped me convert it entirely into physical gold and a little bit of silver.
My biggest concern initially was feeling pressured, but honestly, it was the opposite. The entire process was super educational. They laid out all the options, explained the fees clearly (which are pretty competitive, especially compared to some brokers I looked at), and never once pushed me to make a quick decision. The account setup was smooth, and they handled all the rollover paperwork from my old retirement account, which was a huge relief.
Over the past decade, the peace of mind knowing I have physical assets protecting my savings has been invaluable. While I keep an eye on gold prices, it’s not something I obsess over daily. It’s a long-term play for me. I did recently stumble onto a tool called "Silver vs Stocks" on goldirablueprint.com (specifically used the 10-year period here) which was pretty eye-opening in showing how silver has performed against the market. Made me consider adding a bit more silver to my holdings next time I rebalance, especially with how volatile things feel lately.
Anyhow, I’m curious if anyone else here has been with Augusta for similar lengths of time? What are your thoughts on their customer service over the years? Mine's always been solid, but it's good to hear other perspectives. Thinking about rolling over another chunk of my old 401k soon, and just wanted to see if anyone had any updated insights.
