Anyone started a Gold IRA with a smaller portfolio?
- •I've got around $180k in my current 401k, and the market volatility lately has me seriously considering diversifying into precious metals.

Okay, so I'm a marketing exec here in Minneapolis, and I've been really focused on getting my ducks in a row for an early retirement – probably looking at 55, so about 15 years out. I've got around $180k in my current 401k, and the market volatility lately has me seriously considering diversifying into precious metals. I've been researching Gold IRAs, but a lot of what I read seems geared towards people with way larger portfolios.
My main question is, for someone like me with maybe $50k-$75k to roll over into a Gold IRA, are there specific companies that are better suited for "smaller" investors? I'm not looking to move my entire nest egg, just a solid chunk to protect against inflation and those inevitable market dips. I'm seeing a lot of minimums, and honestly, some of the sales pitches feel a bit aggressive, which makes me nervous.
I also used that Eligibility Checker tool to see if I even qualify, which was super helpful and cut through a lot of the initial confusion. Turns out I do, surprise surprise! But now it's about finding the right partner. Are there companies known for lower fees, better customer service for smaller accounts, or ones that don't try to upsell you on a bunch of premium coins you don't need? Any experiences (good or bad!) would be really appreciated. What did you wish you knew before you started?
